Personality:
First and foremost, Utau has a very serious brother complex, which affects her personality. Around everyone, she’s rather quiet, serious, and stubborn. Around Ikuto, however, she’s rather childish and happy, chasing him around and constantly wanting to impress him. She is extremely loyal to him, even deciding to find the Embryo for him, not Easter. Utau also has a very possessive, sometimes cruel side to her. Her intense love for her brother makes her automatically jealous of anyone who could take him away, like Amu. Even when not around Ikuto, though, Utau is a very intense individual: she’s focused on whatever task is at hand, whether her heart is in it or not. She is flawless in her determination, as Dia once said...she will do anything and everything to get what she wants. However, her drive can be so strong that it sometimes even makes her forget her true goals. She becomes so determined to defeat Amu with her song that she forgets why she started singing in the first place. Though she has a very held-together personality, she can overall be a bit immature, both around Ikuto and in the fact that she refuses to admit when she’s wrong.
Background:
Utau Tsukiyomi grew up under the influence of her muggle-loving father, much to the dismay of her mother’s family. As a child she inherited her love of music from him and would eagerly sing while her brother accompanied her on his violin. When her father disappeared, Utau continued to sing for a short while, but soon she realized that her ambitions were frowned upon by her mother’s very traditional pureblood family. She adapted, even going so far as to take on the last name of her mother’s family, Hoshina. She is more obedient to Easter than her brother Ikuto, thus keeping herself in their good graces. However, she has vowed to herself to get the Embryo only for her brother, and not her family. Utau became adamant about going to Hogwarts once Ikuto was admitted; she refused to be parted from him, mostly because she feared someone else would capture his interests. Her wish was granted on the basis that having both in Hogwarts would be more beneficial in the search for the Embryo. Her determination is as strong as Ikuto’s, though for a different reason. If she helped him get what he wanted, if she proved she was better than anyone else, she believed Ikuto would love her as more than a sibling, as she does. She made her own personal vow – she would never lose to anyone, especially if they wanted to take Ikuto away.
